“Socio-cultural aspects of communicating with foreigners from selected countries of Caucasus and Central Asia”

A five days long specialised training course “Socio-cultural aspects of communicating with foreigners from selected countries of Caucasus and Central Asia” was concluded on 2 December 2016.

The event organised by Foreigner’s Affairs Department has been conducted for the first time, as before it was divided into two separate courses. The main aim of the training was to obtain knowledge and hone skills of participants in terms of social communication competences necessary to conduct official duties carried out towards foreigners coming from these regions.

The participants were familiarised with current political, social and economic situations, as well as the situation and history behind recent conflicts related to the states and republics of these regions. The topics covered in the frames of the training dealt also with such issues as religious diversity and cultural aspects of interpersonal communication with foreigners from Caucasus and Central Asia, as well as international migration trends from the region to Europe and Poland and the way of life of Caucasian societies in Poland (mainly Chechens and Armenians).

The lectures were conducted by BG Captain Anna Wawrzynowicz, BG Captain Justyna Pietrzkiewicz and Ms. Daria Kubicka with the support of lecturers from Wroclaw University: Prof. Larysa Leshchenko and PhD. Marek Musioł who shared the outcome of their studies and experiences from their visits in Caucasus and Central Asia regions with the participants.
