From 15 till 26 of February 2016 the lecturers of Foreigners Department of the Border Guard Centre for Specialised Training in Luban conducted this year’s first edition of a specialised course “Activities of migration services carried out towards foreigners on the basis of national law”.

From 15 till 26 of February 2016 the lecturers of Foreigners Department of the Border Guard Centre for Specialised Training in Luban conducted this year’s first edition of a specialised course “Activities of migration services carried out towards foreigners on the basis of national law”.

The training is a result of a need presented by BG units to prepare a course that will increase the competences of BG officers starting their work in foreigners’ affairs sections. Therefor this activity is directed at BG officers who are preparing to start their work in such sections.

The main aim of the training is to obtain and deepen the knowledge and skills related to applying national laws to foreigners staying on Polish territory.

During the course the lecturers discussed such topics as: using proper legal grounds for actions undertaken towards foreigners, distinguishing and recognising various documents that allow foreigners to remain on the territory of Poland together with rights and obligations connected with such documents. Another aspect discussed was how to conduct and record the checks on legality of stay or employment of foreigners, as well as check related to foreigners conducting business in Poland. The participants were familiarised with the procedure of returning and accepting people on the territory of Poland based on the national laws and international agreements. The general rules on leading administrative proceedings related to foreigners were also discussed during the meeting.

The participants of the course were the officers from Border Guard Headquarters and several Border Guard Regional Units.
